Deepfake
Deepfake refers to a type of synthetic media that is created or manipulated using deep learning techniques, particularly deep neural networks. In the context of videos, deepfake technology is often used to superimpose the likeness of one person onto another, making it appear as though the person in the video is saying or doing something they never actually did. This can involve mapping the facial expressions and movements of one person onto another in a convincing manner.
Deepfake technology has raised significant concerns due to its potential for misuse, such as spreading misinformation, creating non-consensual pornography, or manipulating public figures’ statements or actions. As a result, there have been efforts to develop methods to detect and counteract deepfake content, as well as calls for increased awareness and regulation surrounding its use.
